Looks like the driver's door/side of the car was wrapped around a tree. The text says the passenger was ok, but the driver needed to be freed from the car/tree. Looks like this happened in Dingolfing near Munich.

It looks like the steering wheel airbag wasn't deployed...wouldn't it in a serious crash like this?

Dackelone, can you tell from the first couple of letters on the number plate where or what region this car is from. It's too blurry to make out. Hope everyone is ok.
Pity about the Performance Seats and I'm sure there are other goodies too From the color of wrap, I hope it's not the member on here that's been trying to sell his I hope this story has a happy ending |

Sad. Hopefully driver is also OK (alike the passenger).
Also in Germany, only few 1M's around with the combo grey wrap, performance seats and E92 M3 GTS wheels. Some that feature on Autogespot: http://www.autogespot.com/bmw/spots?...oto&color=grey

Not that they are exactly common elsewhere, but only about 20% or less of the 1M production found its way to N. America. I don't think these cars are as "rare" in Europe, per equivalent population, as they are in the USA for example.

1M crash was in Dingolfing, near Munich...
Quote:
The fire dept was dispatched from Dingolfing(where the 5er/6er/7er's are made). I think the member you are referring too is ace11 I think Ace has already sold his 1M. Plus his car has green brake calipers and a rear rold cage painted in green. Ace's car is from Frankfurt(F - plates, not three letters). Btw... I found some more pics on the interwebs... Found some new images...

ugh... hope everyone was okay....
looks like the car did its job and protected the passengers with airbags properly. wonder how it happened. my biggest question around that is, "was traction control turned off?"

Hope everyone is up and about at this point, with just financial damage. Delighted to see that the massive deformation to the chassis does not seem to have affected the driver seat much!
German interweb reports: Injuries for 32 year old driver and minor injuries for passenger (both males brought to hospital): reportedly losing ctrl after clearing a roundabout. Whether traction-ctrl was engaged is still considered private or possibly 'not interesting enough to report on'. From looking at the pictures it should be no surprise that damages are indicated @50k€ Last edited by eeghie; 10-05-2015 at 11:50 AM.. |

the front and rear crush sensors for the airbags prob weren't touched, i rolled my previous car and no airbags because the front and back bumpers were still in tact where the sensors for the airbags were

When the 1 series came out many were a bit disappointed it wasn't lighter.
Times like this it is good to have some extra steel around you. Hope the driver is OK.

I did my break in service in Munich and was ready to open up the beast and asked where I could go to get good open space to go fast. The dealer people told me to go towards Dingolfing and that road was were I finally opened my 1M up. My plan was to max out but I didn't want any other cars around. I tried but there were other cars. Finally I was able to open it up and hit 150 but backed off as I was coming up on a truck.
I hope the driver is ok! Having gone fast in that stretch and seeing the pics really hits home. I never maxed out my 1M now that I'm in the US but glad I backed off. It only takes a nanosecond for a mistake. Is he in the forum? |

The problem with the A92 Autobahn is it heads to the East... like Deggendorf and ultimately Czech... so you have a lot of cars going back to the Eastern countries... and well.. those drives are not so good at driving "quickly" and "safely" as say your average German is(not to mention the condition of the cars that come from the Eastern countries). I really prefer the A9 for really high speed driving.
