2011 E90--am I asking too much?

Hello,

I have my 2011.75 E90 M3 for sale, listed at $46,999. It was titled in November of 2011 (one of the last E90's made). It is Space Gray and fully loaded, with 23K miles and CPO until November 2017. Competition package, DCT, the works. Pretty much spotless inside and out. No accidents. I'm the second owner. I've gotten a couple calls but no serious interest. I'm at about what I owe, but I expect some negotiating. Am I asking too much, that no one's even making an offer? I had someone offer $38K, to which I didn't even respond. That seemed insulting.

I bought my 2011 in April of 2014 with 40k on the clock for the same price. Non Comp, No Sunroof, DCT, otherwise loaded.

Your Mileage and CPO helps though. I think you are a bit high, but a good place to start from.

I have your exact specs (SSII though) and I think you are a little high. My lease buyout over a year ago was $46k.

Ok, so since I'm getting offers thru PM already...at this time I'm not willing to go under $45K. Not sure if I even want to go that low, but that's the lowest I'll consider. Thanks for the insight.

Fair price given, E90, options and CPO.

People offering $38K aren't serious. They probably aren't prepared to buy even if you said yes. "I gotta sell my car, you take trades, I need to get a loan, etc"

Ya I think 38k is too low for the mileage -- friend of mine just bought one same year loaded 50k miles for 38 and it wasn't CPO. IMO 41-43 ish is more realistic.

The other issue is it just takes a while to move a private party car sometimes. Might not necessarily be a price issue but just lack of a buyer that is willing to deal private party.

I had put an offer of 42k in via PM, obviously pending provision of further information. Would have appreciated a response. It's only courteous. You are not doing yourself any favors.

Sorry Dude but there is no requirement that somebody respond to an offer... I don't know where people get that sense of entitlement. I feel you respond if you want to and don't if you don't and you have the choice of taking it personally or not.
Just my two cents

Not taking it personally, just saying that it helps the sales pitch to be courteous. But thanks for your 2 cents anyway!

OP you are not helping yourself with that attitude. If I send an email I am waiting for an answer. At least write him back an " ok I will look into your offer", but don't be rude man. I hate when I send an email or text and people don't answer back or maybe you are the guy that of someone says hello to you you probably will ignore him!!! Just answer the emails. It will help you sell the car easier. Most probably you just lost several potential clients.

I'm wondering where is it written that just because I send an IM to someone that they have to answer it? I've sent more than my share to others in many different forums and with some I never heard back. Maybe I understand that what others do is what they do...when I have the expectation that they do what I would do, or what I feel is "right", I then choose to feel slighted or "they were rude" where they may have many legitimate reasons for not replying which may or may not have anything to do with me. I have a policy that allows others to reply or not without judging them to be rude, or having lost sales or some other assertion that may be only true in my head and not based in reality...
Again just my opinion...take what works and leave the rest!

SLIGHTLY high. I think you are spot on at $45 to be minimum. My car has about 10k more miles and I am thinking of listing it for $43.

As our cars depreciate more and more over time, it starts to attract a different crowd. I wouldn't take it too personally if some guy in a stanced G37 trying to be an M3 Brah lowballs you like that. Just ignore him.

To me, you are missing the point. If you are a seller of a high ticket item, it only makes sense to go out of your way to be extra courteous so that you appear (even if not the case) to be someone with whom a potential buyer would want to be business with.

I get your point. The OP saw my PM, commented on it on this thread instead of replying to the PM. That puts a sour taste in a potential buyer's mouth, no more no less. I'd still do business with him if it works for me.

You don't have to if you don't want to, but it's always a courtesy to write back, even more when you are trying to sell a $48k car. In other words you are saying that you don't expect an answer from a person that you say hello to? Weirded people every where. Definitely everyone in this world is different. I do try to respond to every email, text and missed phone call that I recognize. When a seller doesn't respond I immediately think it's a scam. If OP wants to sell his car here he needs to treat every email or text as a potential buyer. That guy that he didn't answer to might have been the buyer, who knows?

By the way the price is dead on as a starting point. Should sell at $45.5 - $46. Is it covered under the new or old CPO conditions? The new ones are marked as UP. Specs couldn't be better for E90 lovers. GLWS OP

OP, I noticed there are a lot of dealers on this forum who will try to low ball you to get the car cheap so that they can sell it for more. I personally know at least 3 members (one of them is CosmosMPower). Maybe there is nothing wrong with doing that for his business but NOT in this forum. This forum is supposed to be for helping and supporting each other not ripping each other off. Just BE-CAREFUL and stand behind your asking price and you will get real buyers.

Flat black 2011 M3 Coupe DTC loaded with 25,000 miles $49,000 @ Valencia BMW. That's a stealership price. Yours may be high but I wouldn't accept less than $40,000 if I were you. Don't be discouraged by cheap people dude. I laughed at 15-20 people who made offers on my 2008 335i. Someone will take your car who is smart. No more NA V8's ever again from BMW......there are people out there who know that one fact and they will find you.

That seems pretty high to me. I purchased a similarly equipped car almost two years ago for $45k. Granted mine had 32k miles, but that wouldn't make that much of a different. I haven't been watching the market, but I would think it would be worth around $40k tops for a private sale.

If its a clean car and you don't need to sell and not in a rush no lower then 45k, that's someones dream car right there just remember 23k miles is still a new car, e90 is rare theres not much to choose from.

How are you advertising the car?
Are you on Craigslist, Autotrader and the others?

I would say look for around 42K as a fair offer. The only reason I say that is because I had a similar car with a little more mileage with the M performance exhaust and maintaince package and got $40 for it.
