Engine Mounts-Urgently Needed!

BIMMERPOST / Classifieds
Asking Price:
None

Item Interest
Going in for rod bearing replacement this Thur 7/30/15 and thought while I'm at it I'd swap the stock engine mounts for something firmer, ideally Bimmerworld or similar, not as hard as Vorshlag, not as soft as stock. Not sure what else there is out there that may work for an aggressive daily driver setup.

If anyone can get me a set by this Fri, you will be handsomely rewarded.

Thank you.

Are the Vorshlag that harsh for daily diving? Thinking about going with them but wasn't sure yet.

I understand Vorshlag are harder than Bimmerworld. Results/opinions are very subjective w aftermarket mounts.

To clarify, reason I'm looking for a pair on the forums is because no vendors can deliver in time. Vorshlag, Bimmerworld etc are a few weeks out.

I've had great luck getting the vibratechnics mounts in 2-3 days shipped to Colorado by way of their standard shipping. I want to say they come out of Michigan somewhere, but I wouldn't bet on that. They're very nice mounts and worth looking into IMO.

Ok thanks I saw them but will take a closer look. How would you describe them compared to stock under DD conditions?

I've driven a car with the VT mounts and they aren't bad for
Daily. Not too much more noticeable than stock.

I'll report back on them on my build thread soon.

Thank you

I have the Bimmerworld mounts and they are excellent particularly if this is your daily driver.

Unfortunately they're on back order so won't arrive in time. If I don't like the UUC after a few 100 miles I'll just have to change them out.

I had them in first and they have a noticeable amount more vibration at idle compared to stock as well as the Vibratechnics mounts. I have the street version and there is no NVH over stock but the responsiveness and ease of shifting is nicely improved over stock. I'm definitely glad I switched them out.

Funny, I ran into this exact same issue. Having my rod bearings swapped, wanted the Bimmerworld Group-N mounts, and was told they are on back order.

Vibra-Technics might be worth looking into.

So what did you do? Vibra Technics? What was your experience?

Car is not done yet, but unfortunately it's looking like I may have to go with new OEM mounts. Really, really disappointed Bimmerworld didn't have theirs in stock.

Yeah I'll let u know how the UUC's work out. Good luck under the knife. I procrastinated on mine since I installed the blower. Hopefully they're shredded so I get my money's worth out of the ARP's

No I did not. My past cars showed a considerable amount of increase in NVH from transmission mount upgrades so I skipped them for the time being. That and the only ones I found at the time were solid and I'm not into that. Even though my commutes are short and I DD the car in good weather conditions, I didn't want to get too crazy with it. If I did, I would drive the car even less and I only average about 4k a year now. I can always add the transmission mounts later, but I'm happy with them as is.

Hmmmm I only saw the racing version on their site. Oh well if I don't like them they'll go. I'm not a fan of exhaust drone but I'm enjoying all the other noises and am not too concerned about the prospect of increased NVH but we'll see I guess.

How long did you run the racing versions then? I understand most mounts soften up over time and over torquing can reduce travel/increase stiffness, and subsequently NVH.

I'm not actually sure. About 6-8k but I don't really thrash it. They should be looking ok but I'm expecting the worse. Doesn't matter now of course. I'll post everything in my build thread in a few days.

Damn... I just had my rod bearings done... Never crossed my mind that it would be a good idea to do the mounts at the same time to save labor.

I asked the shop to check the mounts and they said they where still ok... Didn't advise me to change them... Grrr
