Cheapest place to get a Steering Angle Sensor?

I starting getting EDC failures every couple of days, I could clear the code and it would be fine for a day or two. Now it EDC error is on all the time. Pulling the codes shows a Steering Angle Sensor exceeded maximum value or something like that. If the steering angle sensor were bad wouldn't the stability control stuff be malfunctioning too?

So I figure I should look into replacing the steering angle sensor, where do you guys get them? I'll just install it myself and have the local shop code it to the car.

I tried to clean it out as per another thread I saw on here, but it wasn't dirty at all, looked fairly new. But the error code says steering angle sensor so I guess I gotta believe that..

I usually have good luck with car-part.com. You have to know exactly what you are trying to find.

Yeah, that's the trick. It seems there's not too much info out there as to the exact part number I'd need. Would all the E9x cars use the same one?

Looks like it's integrated with the stalks and it is interchangeable depending on which ones you need.

I would try re calibrating the steering angle sensor and resetting the edc module first.

Re-zeroing the steering angle sensor didn't work unfortunately. So since the encoder wheel and sensor are super clean its got to be the circuit board. I'm going to try re-flowing some of the solder joints.

Why does this part have to be $600?

Welcome to ///M land, home of the $200 oil change.

Maybe a local junkyard might have it?

Junkyard might work. But does the sensor have to come front an M3 with the same options? Seems like all the listings I've seen have multiple sensors part numbers.

We have one in stock for less than that. Or if you get a used one off an MDrive M3, or X5M we can program that to the car.
