But if it is also based on how the car behaves AFTER it take s a hit from a road imperfection, then normal or sport may be better overall. It's kinda hard to explain, I suppose. Am I making sense or no?

Yep, it helps my ride. When I have guests in my car I put it into comfort mode sometimes and it's noticeable.
