Introduction to the crowd
Hello everyone. I'm the proud new owner of a 2008 M3 Cpe DCT I've been using this forum for pre purchase and since for the wealth of information which helped find the right car and set up all the setting to make it mine. Previous ride was a 2006 997 S Cab that I bought new and had planned on driving for another 5 years + until a completely insane woman in a suburban totaled it. Really enjoy the M3 so far

They seem to achieve the same results very differently. Your always working the 911 but it's great work to have. Communication, feed back and feel are amazing and constant. You just become part of the car and nothing compares to Porsche Brakes. The M3 makes easy power and tends to surprise me that yep I'm doing 80MPH. Very comfortable but that also isolates you more from the ride. I tracked the 911 a lot and knew it very well. I felt I could put it with in an inch of anywhere I wanted. The M3 so far I would say that number is inside of 1 foot but will get better I'm sure. |

My X5 was smashed up (frame damage) from some insane older lady texting while driving in your hometown of Laguna Niguel.
911/M3...you have good taste in cars. See you around.

Keep us posted on the differences as you get to know your M. Many of us on this board are considering 911 variants when we need to replace our Ms and it's great to get an actual experienced person pov. Congrats and welcome. So sorry to hear about your 997

Congrats and welcome! Would you be kind enough to comment on some of the differences between the two cars?
It's well documented in psychology that purchasing something makes you like it more than you would have otherwise. There are good mentions of it on Ted.com Since you are in a unique situation I feel this may provide a less biased opinion to the Porsche, than if you had gone from M to P. Thanks. |

Hey Longboarder looks like your in my back yard. I surf Creek a lot. 997.2 tt is definitely something in my future.
Traveler comparison at the moment is the M is packed with technology and comfort the 911 has not implemented until the latest version 991. Build quality for the M while good doesn't seem as high as the "Made from a single piece of solid stone" that I got with the 911. Power is easy and strong with the M but turn in and pure telepathic handling goes to the 911. The DCT took time to get used too. First 2 pedal car ever for me. Once I figured out how to stop the 3-2-1 automatic down shifts coming to a stop and avoiding the head bobbing that went with it seemed to help a lot. I haven't really pushed the M yet. I don't want to add it to the list of Salvaged Title cars on Craigslist. |
