DIY A/C troubleshooting help request
there are several good guides for other models but they don't seem to apply to the e9x m3 configuration. A few questions:
Is there only one pressure sensor on e9x or should I be able to find a low pressure sensor near the firewall? I only see one close to the compressor. Can the pressure sensor wires be shorted to test it or is it providing variable pressure data? It seems to be a variable clutch as the wheel is always spinning, where older designs the center of the wheel would stop. Is that correct? Or has my clutch seized if it is always spinning? I have static pressure around 90 psi high and low, and the compressor never engages, so they stay equal, but go up a little with engine temp. Any chance this is still too low to trip the sensor to allow the compressor to engage? Thanks |

Did you ever find any answers to your question?
I too am trying to troubleshoot an AC issue, it seems to be on/off whenever it feels but when it works it's nice and cold. It was work fine one day, then another day it would be hot air. I tried looking at the compressor to see if it is engaged but you are right it looks like some sort of new clutch, I can't tell if it's engaged or not like on older cars. I wanted to see if the compressor was engaging or not, Im thinking it could be a sensor or something but I don't know how to troubleshoot it.
