Deal or No Deal?

I've owned a 2004 E46 M3 Vert Alpine White on Black for about 2 years and have done a lot of mod work on it. I know what the going price ($15,000 - $25,000) for the E46 is but I am looking to buy a E92 and am not so in tune about pricing.

Is this a decent deal or not? It's at a local Toyota Dealer and the only pic at this time.

2008 E93 M3 Convertible. One owner - Clean Carfax
Interlagos Blue Metallic on Anthracite Black.
Mileage: 54,462
VIN: WBSWL93558PL89193
Price: $31,000

Without knowing any other information I'd say $30k is the going rate for an 08 with 50k miles. Probably the worst time to buy a vert though, I bought mine in June too and probably paid the summer tax. If you can wait until winter you can probably get it for at least 10% less.

LOL, WTF. They are listing it on their website as Interlagos Blue but I see the VIN decoder has it listed as Jerez Black. But as was just mentioned, the pic looks aweful dark to be blue. I'm going to call the dealership now and ask what's up.

Yup, that is no where near interlagos blue

It could pass of as Monaco blue if it was a regular e9x and I can understand where that mistake could be made...

I wouldn't call it a "deal" but a quick search on autotrader shows that $31k for the car is probably a fair price.

assuming everything checks out, I would say its a good price.

And it looks like Jerez Black.

I don't think that is a great deal for a 2008 with MT and CCC Navigation, but probably isn't unreasonable either. To me a lot depends on the condition of the car - paint - rock chips, age/sun damage on trim and rubber seals, condition of the wheels, age of tires, service records and what if anything was maintained by the dealer, any extended warranty, etc. In perfect condition it might be worth $31K. An accident on the carfax, paint chips, and needing tires could easily put it around $25K. Actual price is probably somewhere in between. I'm in the southern US, and regional values vary a lot so I could be totally wrong for your area.

Ok so I'm on my way to dealership and my phone rings. It's the sales guy telling me they just took the car from detail around the corner to their body shop to have the front bumper resprayed because they found a "scratch". Hmmm. Anyway I show up, park, and meet the guy. He offers to take me over so we go about 1/2 mile down the road and there sits the car. Front bumper wrap already off and in paint. And yes, as proven in the VIN decoder check, it is a Jebez Black car. The ad listed on the dealer website was mistakenly listed as Interlagos Blue. So the car looks pretty clean all around, I looked top to bottom and ran my hand over it. So we go back to dealer and I find out it has 1 "rear end accident" listed on the CarFax about 1 year ago. They tell me it was a "NO DAMAGE" incident. One of those little taps that doesn't leave even a scratch or mark. So I've got some thinking to do. In this Atlanta market $31.000 is a good price for a 2008 compared to others I've seen with even more miles. I've resprayed front bumpers before so I'm not so worried about that. I've also had cars that were tapped in parking lot where the police was called to make a report but no damage, but that usually mean a mark on the CarFax. I'll post a few pic I took of it. Keep the opinions coming.

Similar mileage but newer vehicle for a small bump. One owner instead of four. No prior damage noted in the history. http://bestride.com/detail/2011/BMW/...48931008385326

Yes, I saw that black vert at ALM Roswell online. Since I already have a 2004 E46 Alpine white on black vert I think I'm going to go with a carbon fiber roof coupe. And although you can never go wrong with black, I think I'm leaning toward the Space Gray. I'm taking to a guy with a 2009 now and a dealer with a 2011. Both around 48,000-52,000 miles. First one $35,000 but has high end laser jammer installed, tint, and focal speakers. Second a bit high at $40,000 but love the black & Fox red interior.

The 2009 has upgraded Nav, DCT, and it looks like ZCP wheels. Those things alone are worth the $4000 difference from the 2008 in my opinion. Justifying $5,000 more for the 2011.75 is a little harder, although it's likely the 2011 is a real competition package car while the 2009 isn't. The 2011 could also still have some factory warranty left. It all comes down to condition, service records and what you want to spend. Another thing to consider is that the 2011 might be eligible for financing from more lenders and at better rates than the 2009. During my search I found a lot of lenders didn't want to deal with private party sales, cars over 5 years old, or wanted higher rates if they did.

This is some solid advice. The CIC (2010.5+, IIRC) navigation system is passable for a modern infotainment system. The old CCC navigation system -- the one with the giant silver knob -- is just... Whoa. Majorly dated.
