So get this....
I was washing my car today and my comfort access lock/unlock was going crazy when water or soap bubbles were on the door handles.
Smart me, to stop it, I decide to put the key fob in the car... (Yea, smart... Wait for it...) So as I'm drying the car slowly, I hear "beep, beep" and the mirrors fold before my eyes... Huh?! What?! Car locked itself, with my key inside... (And my phone and my wallet...) Can't unlock the car, can't break a window... So I walk home from the self-serve car wash in shame, with a wet rag in my hand, bowing my head until I can retrieve my other key and walk back... Should the car lock itself while the key is inside? I thought that was impossible... So maybe I should've put the key in the key hole in the dash... That might have prevented the auto lock. I just deselected the "lock if no door is open"checkbox, thinking that might be it... Any other thoughts? Why the hell did this happen to me? (I'm more mad at myself for looking incredibly dumb at the store next door calling my wife on the store phone and asking her to pick up the kids in my stead cause I LOCKED MYSELF OUT OF MY CAR!!!!) Feel free to chastise...

I'm not sure why it locked, and that lock if no doors are open shouldn't have caused it to lock either since you opened the door to put the key in. At least you were able to get the second key to open it..
Maybe someone else can chime in with the answer. |

OP you can try keeping the mechanical key with you and try locking the keyfob in. IF it does then there is something malfunctioning with your comfort access system. |

Just put the key on the Wash selector (where you select wash or brush). The key only needs to be like 10ft away for the comfort access to be inactive.

The door should have opened when you touched the handle. When the key is inside, with comfort access, it might lock, but it will always open when you touch the handle.

I had a similar situation where I put the key in the trunk and shut it with car locked. The car automatically unlocked. That may just be in that situation because the car was locked the whole time and it realized I had made a mistake. With my wife's car it is definitely possible to lock your key in the car..... It's a Toyota mind you.

What I do is I unlock the car and leave the key out of range. Usually wash it in driveway so I leave key in garage and the comfort access doesn't go crazy

On mine, I noticed the passenger door will not unlock with the key inside and the passenger door is locked. Now I am kind of worried, as I have also left the key inside while I wash it. So far it has never happened to me, I am going to keep the key in my pocket going forward.
I would assume if the key is in range, and you pull the handle, the door should unlock. Maybe it is an option in iDrive,as you mention???
