Typical bike driver thinking he owns the road. Can tell people what to do, and cut to front of traffic.

yeah nothing accidental about that. one of the biggest eye-openers when i started riding a motorcycle was how quickly your other-wise probably very normal person would turn into an attempted murderer b/c of some perceived slight. you really have no idea about how entitled drivers are until you've been on a bike in traffic on public streets. but as a rider, you just cannot engage drivers on the road. even if you see blatant texting or whatnot, just put you head on a swivel and go.

Obviously the guy in the BMW is on the wrong side here but this biker really didn't need to escalate the situation the way he did. Should have just minded his own business and continued on with life.

Disgusting behavior on the part of the BMW. I drive, ride, skateboard, etc. A few choice words for someone regarding texting or whatever never warrants hitting them with your vehicle.

well I have no idea the bike laws or phone laws where this takes place. But in some areas it is illegal to be on the phone at all and others allow bikers to weave through cars (correct me if I'm wrong)

That being said, the biker has no right what to tell someone else to do period, and should be well aware to be as defensive as possible and avoid potentially "offending" another driver who could retaliate in road rage. What's so bad about being on your phone at a red light? If it bothers you so much, how about shouting that when you're in a bigger car and not so vulnerable.

On the other hand, the BMW is a complete moron for hitting the biker, intentional or not.

CA is the only state that it's legal to lane split/filter etc. CA it's also completely illegal to use your phone while driving. HOWEVER to put it in context we are the only country to ever outlaw lane filtering. I'm a bit disturbed by some of the comments here but there's a lot of douchey sportbike riders out there (I ride but not like a twat anywhere and everywhere).

Deserved to be almost killed? What if there had been another car on the road that ended up running him over once he fell off his bike? Still deserves it?

For every action there will always be a reaction! Guy on bike should choose his comments more wisely and the guy in the car should refrain from running someone down over a dumb ass comment! The entire incident could have been avoided all together!

This is true. However we don't know the bikers past. He could be a vigilante, or he could have already been hit by a driver on the phone. I got nailed on my sportbike by a guy texting who turned in front of me. I flew through his windshield. I detest people who text in their car and I'd totally say something if I saw them texting if I weren't scared of the lunatics out there. But I clearly have a deep hatred for those who do this. No doubt this biker used horrible execution to get his point across.

On the flip side, I try my best to refrain from getting verbal with idiot drivers on the road. A tacome practically sent me off a bridge in my E46 M3 and after a few choice words on my part the jerk flashed a rifle at me so I realize now there are some lunatics out there.

From studies I've read, texting while driving can be as bad as drinking and driving. Wouldn't we all speak up if the driver was driving while drinking a beer?

I'm in a car and am always worried about getting hit by the huge number of distracted drivers on the road.

Hitting the bike under these circumstances is a dick move.

That's crazy. Nothing warrants hitting someone with your car. Maybe if you fear for your life but that's not the case here.

Motorcyclist was being a dick, the driver wasn't taking it so went nuts on him. Both were at fault but use of car as a weapon was unwarranted.

One never knows what odd mental state other drivers may be in. As tempting as it may be to chastise unsafe driving habits, it probably doesn't deter their behavior and just puts yourself at risk. Sad but true-- there are a lot of whackos driving in ways that can't be logically explained. So it is strictly emotional/irrational behavior.

One example I saw recently was when several motorcyclists went to pass a slow moving pickup (legally) one at a time. When the second bike went to pass, the pickup moved left into the oncoming lane to block him, cutting him off abruptly. This one bike had a lady friend riding on the back as well. When the passenger in the pickup saw this, she started hitting the driver! I was on the third bike and was happy to see the passenger wailing on this idiot (although that was unsafe, too)!

Biker's blog says the BMW driver is under criminal investigation. I'm assuming they got him. Good.

Where's the video of the 10-15 seconds prior to the biker pulling up? If the cops wants to find out who the BMW driver is, all they had to do is look at his video and it would have the driver's license plate number?

Smells fishy.
