Is tire insurance transferrable?

Bought my M3 1 year ago, came with extended service and tire warranty.

Dealer just called me, stated that since the tire warranty isn't in my name (came with the car) they will not cover anything.

Is this true? I thought the tire warranty stayed with the car not the individual person?

Yes, but it must transfer within 1 month of new ownership
