DBC DSC BRAKE light Errors after adjusting steering column?
SO I was cleaning my car today and had to adjust the steering column so I can better clean under the steering wheel. After I was done I got in for a short drive and as I was backing out of the drive way I had to pull the steering column lever in order to get it back to my comfortable position. As i did that I got the DBC, DSC and Yellow Brake lights on the dash / iDrive to pop up. I stopped and turned the car off for a few seconds and it went away. Has anyone had this happen and is it possible that adjusting the steering column while in motion can do this? I read about a possible steering angle sensor/ bad battery but there was no mention of someone moving the column position prior to the lights. In the winter I had the restraint error pop up when I listened to music in my car (it was very very cold), so I attributed that to the temperature but it is now summer. Looks like I have to invest in a scan tool for precaution and perhaps test the battery as it is a original 09.
Also a thought, I may or may not have possibly had the E-brake up while I backed out but do not remember. Maybe that can cause it? Last edited by uisim; 05-29-2015 at 08:56 PM.. |

Probably an issue with the SZL (steering angle sensor) or a wheel speed sensor.

I'm also on a 09 battery, and it's on its last days
I get all kinds of warnings but they go away after a restart. And yes! Invest in a OBD2. It will save you the trip to the stealers. If the codes show up after a reboot? Then you know you have a problem. |

any known diagnostic equipment that can register the new battery with around a 1K price tag. Ive been reading a bit on scan tools but there is a lot of info on these and im new to BMW. Its a bit overwhelming at first. All I know is I do not really want the BT tool. Guess I gotta study this one..
