Diff fluid is based on miles once in the diff. You should be good to go.

That sucks, always remember to check the date the fluid was manufactured. I can see dealers always trying to get rid of their old stock. You should be good to go. Moisture can slowly penetrate into the bottle, but not into your differential casing. It's better to store fluid in the differential than on the shelf!
