Extended Maintenance/Warranty Contract
Looking for opinions on extended contracts. I drive 24k per year. the warranty for 5yr/100k is $3600 and the maintenance for 6yr/100k is $2300. I drove my 04 x5 4.4 for 200k with only one expensive repair (oil pump @ $2400). I'm think of the maintenance.

I didn't opt for the extended maintenance, but I did go for the extended warranty...which pushed the warranty out to 160k, or maybe it was 150k...now I have to pull the documents and check!

It's rare these days that people keep their cars past year 5... For a peace of mind that seems like a good deal to me.
Make sure to read all the fine lines of what is covered and what isn't. |

I'm not sure if that's true. Plenty of people keep their cars for well over 5 years. I plan to keep my x5 for 7 - 8 at least. If you lease, yes you'll be changing cars pretty frequently.
I also purchased the extended maintenance around the same price. Supposedly it covers everything covered in the free maintenance plan, including brakes. If you drive a lot, one brake job makes the cost worth it. Supposedly they replace rotors and pads all together. |
