Oil Change for Track day question

Should I change the oil before heading to the track, or after?

I have a track day planned at Nurburgring in two weeks. My engine oil currently has about 4000 miles on it (daily driving with some spirited stints on the autobahn thrown in the mix).

I planned on changing the oil soon as it will be 6 months on the current oil at the end of April.

Your thoughts and recommendations are appreciated. Thanks.

Personally, I will change it before so that you have fresh oil in the engine for the "stress" that it needs to tolerate from the green hell. afterwards, depending on how aggressively i drove, i might change the oil again or change it at a MUCH shorter interval than regular. Let us know! Have a blast! So envious you have the Nurburgring there on your side of the pond, no good tracks around where i live Q___Q

Thanks for your reply. I was leaning that way too. I feel like the engine might benefit from the added protection of brand new oil.

I'm hoping the weather holds out. Hopefully no rain!!

Rain or not, have fun and drive safe! Ya, do the oil change, having an added peace of mind is better always. Plus, oil change isnt "too" expensive. Enjoy!
