Installed new DCT paddles, now getting Restraint system malfunction!

Greetings,

Last night I installed aftermarket DCT paddles, which involved disconnecting the negative battery terminal and removing the air bag. Now I'm getting warnings for "Restraint system malfunction!"

Initially the new paddles installed, everything put back together w/out this warning. Went for a test drive and discovered one of my paddles not working, so I needed to disassemble again to troubleshoot.

I did at one point reconnect the battery and start the car w/out the air bag attached to test after discovering a loose pin for the dct paddle. I'm assuming doing this caused the Restraint system malfunction to trigger.

I've read multiple threads about having the dealer reset this, or by downloading software to my laptop which may be able to do it. Are these the only methods, or is there anything through iDrive which can reset? I don't need diagnostics because I know I had the airbag disconnected at one point while the car was on. Any suggestions?

Thanks!
Tyson

I would redo it completely...disconnect battery and take apart everything and put it back together and reconnect the battery after its all done. Just in case a connection is loose or anything like that. It may be more than necessary but it'll take more time diagnosing exactly what it is...

You just need to have it cleared, the ignition got turned on at some point with the airbag off

Did you get the dealer to clear it, or software?
