What to expect Spartanburg X5 factory tour
It looks like I will be able to stop in Spartanburg for the X5 factory tour if I can confirm a reservation later today for Wed AM. This did not seem like a possibility earlier so unfortunately I only called this morning and got VM.
If I can get in, what will the tour be like? I cannot stay to go to the museum because I have to end the day in TN.

Can anyone just stop and take the tour or is this something that needs to be arranged well in advance?
PS: When I was down there once I was told to definitely try this food joint called "The Beacon"and get "a Plenty" of everything, boy, was I disappointed.

Helpful stuff, thanks.
I cannot get through to anyone today (for a Wed AM reservation) due to the national holiday but my sales agent says she will try to help me while I am driving around NC and finally head to SC tomorrow evening.

Try again tomorrow, it's well worth it, and they are very accommodating there.
The Performance Center has a gift shop, also. THAT's the one to not miss. Just try to get out of there without dropping a wad of cash!

The BMW web says $10 for adults and $3.50 for students and CCA members.
I think I joined CCA with my first X5 but have not kept it up since.

Definitely worth doing. I would skip the museum if you are pressed for time. It wouil d be nice to see an i car built there but I think it's limited to X3-X7 there. Let us know if you see any X7 as this is the place it's supposed to be produced

The X7 portion of the factory is not yet finished. For now, all you get to see are X3s and X4s being built.

As reported upthread, we were only allowed to see X3s and X4s. It is not even possible to see the X5s although we were told production on the X7s would be online for 2016 release.
Since colors are mentioned often in this forum, we were told that white - perhaps Mineral White - was the most popular color in the USA although one of the blacks was a close second. The X5 in the museum is white. The guide said silver is the most popular color outside the USA. I noticed a lot of white with a few other colors during the tour.
