Wonder if BMW uses this boat for other vehicles? Looks like out of action for while!! Rolls Royce on board amongst others!!

Whether it had BMW's or not, it's really a shame to see 1400 cars get tilted and possibly pile on top of each other. I know all these vehicles are tethered but there is no way they can handle this much tilt, it takes just one to come loose and there goes everything else. If they update with interior pictures I'd like to see what happened inside.

You would think that the tragedy in South Korea would have made other countries learn from such dangerous weight issues...smh.

This happened many years ago to a car carrier coming from Japan loaded with Mazdas. Nobody knew the long term effects of being at such steep angles for extended periods of time, so all of the cars were destroyed. An improvised device was made to connect to the OBD port and detonate all the airbags before they were crushed/shredded.
While some cars broke free, most were still intact. I suspect a similar fate here. The vehicles and the carrier are insured. Better to write them off now and not face potential safety issues in future that could be more costly or result in injury/death.

Also, Google RoRo safety. These vessels are prone to listing due to their construction. They're practically hollow inside. Any water leakage can create something I think is called free surface effect. It's like holding a skillet filled with water. It sloshes around and causes instability.
The Mazda incident happened due to a bad ballast tank transfer before entering US waters. One of the salvage workers was unfortunately killed during the operation to right it.
