Success!!!! NBT retrofit in F15!

Just a few lines to let you know that today I successfully finished nbt retrofit in my F15.

As some of you know, my F15 came with standard 6.5" display CIC...and that's really stupid from dealers...how much do they save? $1,000?...anyway, it's done now.

I will write a full thread with instructions and everything needed later, but I just want to THANK now two amazing buddies: Omar and Shawn, who helped me with all coding and flashing stuff, now I have a fully working NBT, no issues at all

Happy New Year!!

Unless you are as skilled as gatordent, you will need help to open up your iDrive, remove panels, and get coding done.

10.2" iDrive (NBT) vs 6.5" iDrive (CIC). Only select countries, unfortunately, have the option of the 6.5", so they have no choice but to either retrofit or spend a lot more money for the 10.2" iDrive. I don't really know their full option selection for their countries, but again BMW isn't very fair across the global market. paicapo and tnikolov, you two are fine with the 10.2" NBT. So far, I've only seen one member in Bimmerfest from Hong Kong and LatinBimmer have the 6.5" CIC iDrive.

Perfect, thank you @opasha! It's really mean to have that beautiful beast with 6.5" CIC only. Congrats to the OP for the retrofit!

You're very welcome. I agree, that's why LatinBimmer made the switch. Poor guy had to wait for the parts for a while and had to go through a few headaches in order to install and code correctly, so his DIY will be very helpful to many members who have the 6.5" CIC. Also, shawnsheridan helped much more than me in making sure everything was flashed/coded properly with the HU_NBT ecu . This community would be lost without his knowledge on retrofit coding.

Send me a PM once you get your car. You'll need an ENET cable, full data files, and also someone to externally power your car for you through jumper cables in case the HU_NBT will have to be flashed (most likely this will be the case since LatinBimmer had to do it).

Happy New Year to you as well .

Hi LatinBimmer,

I to had the CIC from factory on my 12/2016 X5...

Some guys upgraded it to a NBT HU, but I have no data transfer active or connected apps. Shouldn't data transfer be active since the car comes with a TCB? Or does the unit has it's own built in sim card?

I have a connected drive subscription (connected pack). I can use remote app to lock and unlock my car.

I can enable the Bluetooth tethering but it does nothing because there is no app to use the connection. No weather, no news, etc...

I would like to have RTTI and all other services, if possible, not using the Bluetooth tethering.

Can you help me?
