Battery replacement facts?

I had battery discharge come up and was time for new battery being my car a 2008 and being in 2014 is understandable. I used a local guy you said he specialised in BMWs, so I used him to replace the battery and recode it for me to the car.. Months gone by still had the same problem replaced the battery earth Senior and done updates my car got so low in battery it shorted out and blow 2 speakers... So lucky I knew a guy that new a guy and I got BMW customer assists to come and read the car to work out the problem....
Well it turns out the battery was never changed and due to this I have had untold problems for months thinking it's not the battery.
He showed me on the negative block there is 2 numbers on the top is 1 to 51 which is the week in the year and the bottom was the year mine read 16 08 which is April 2008 which is also the registration of my car also! Was not happy it's has cost me nearly £900 with changing parts and labour and i find this out!
The guy reckons he changed it and it's not his problem and I am having to deal with all this so just to help any one if they don't know that's how you can tell the date of your battery and if you change your battery he also told me you just change it and that you only register it to the car for service history so the car has a blog of when it was changed of you change the battery it will still work so my advice go to your dealer buy a genuine battery from them and change it your self simple easy and money saving I just been a Guinea pig and been ripped off

Pic of my old batter and a pic of new showering the dates

Hope this helps people out and if I'm wrong please speak up

punctuations would be useful here

Batteries have a label on them that tells you all the info.
