Did your oil consumption change?

My 2010 held steady full oil indication from purchase w/ 19,000 miles to an oil change at 24,000. Since then, the car has twice dropped to exactly half quart low mark on the 'dipstick' and then never moved. after it held at 1/2 down the first time (at about 26,000) for a good while, I put in half a quart. Held for a good long time again and then dropped pretty quickly to 1/2 qt low after some spirited driving. It's still on 1/2 down and I am at 29,000+ miles now. No track time during this. Any idea what's up? And any unintended consequences to driving 1/2 qt. down? Heading in for another oil change Wednesday. Thanks in advance.

Read your owners manual. The oil level at the halfway mark does not mean you are half a quart down.
