Oil Level question
Hey guys,
Just bought an M3 and have a question about the oil level. When the oil level is at the halfway point and the gauge says "OK" does that mean the engine oil level is at full? I see a bunch of threads about how folks added a liter of oil at the halfway point and then the overfill warning came on. Your thoughts are greatly appreciated! |

I just did an oil change and used the full 9L of Castrol 10W60. Afterwards, the gauge read 1/2 full. I have been adding a little more oil everyday to see if I can get the gauge to read full. So far I've added and extra 1/2L, for a total of 9 1/2L. The gauge still reads 1/2 full. I may stop at this point because I'm starting to doubt the accuracy of the gauge.

Middle at OK, means it's sufficient. You can get it to go up another notch, 3/4 where it reads MAX. If you go beyond that (full bar) then you've over-filled.
Mine right now is 3/4 at MAX. |

Thanks guys, this is really helpful! I didn't know what the Min represented but now that I know it is only ~1 liter from Max then at least I know my oil can't be super low.
