Oil Level question

Hey guys,

Just bought an M3 and have a question about the oil level. When the oil level is at the halfway point and the gauge says "OK" does that mean the engine oil level is at full?

I see a bunch of threads about how folks added a liter of oil at the halfway point and then the overfill warning came on.

Your thoughts are greatly appreciated!

The difference between the min and max line on the screen is about a liter. If your level is in the middle I would leave it be. It'll tell you when you need to add more.

I just did an oil change and used the full 9L of Castrol 10W60. Afterwards, the gauge read 1/2 full. I have been adding a little more oil everyday to see if I can get the gauge to read full. So far I've added and extra 1/2L, for a total of 9 1/2L. The gauge still reads 1/2 full. I may stop at this point because I'm starting to doubt the accuracy of the gauge.

Middle at OK, means it's sufficient. You can get it to go up another notch, 3/4 where it reads MAX. If you go beyond that (full bar) then you've over-filled.

Mine right now is 3/4 at MAX.

Thanks guys, this is really helpful! I didn't know what the Min represented but now that I know it is only ~1 liter from Max then at least I know my oil can't be super low.
