I don't drive my M3 in the winter but my Tundra showed -39C when I left the house this morning. It gets even colder up here in Fort McMurray. We are 700KM (435Miles) north of you guys in Calgary. With that being said we are supposed to get temperatures in the pluses this week as well, that is kinda unusual of for us in early February.

my vert' is sitting in the garage waiting for better days... like, Thursday i agree though, the weather right now is just stupid ! it was + 5 C or so last Friday, then down to -20C, -30C, -20C and BAM, up to + 6 C again by Friday

oh well, as someone said, money is good here, so we can take some sh*tty weather for a month or 2, or 6

Enjoy your M's guys !

Yep. Heated parking garage FTW!!

Chinooks will hopefully be here this afternoon. Forecast for it going up to - 7 C (20 F)this afternoon.

Remember the rule in biology, cold temperatures to preserves things and heat to deteriorate things faster.

Does the m3 control the throttle differently in cold conditions. Because today it's less than 30 degrees out and I stepped on the pedal kind of firmly to get around someone and didn't get s response very quickly. So is that being controlled because of the cold?

I saw in the news this morning, Oklahoma city is getting blasted with a blizzard and so is Dallas Texas.

I remember being in OKC for working on a project and people always used to keep taunting me about how it does not snows over there in the winter. So they think.

Most likely is traction control kicking in as the tires have less traction in the cold.

Haha, I think the car was schoked that I was still going to drive it in this weather lol. But coming from a 330xi, surprisingly M3 handles pretty well in snow!

Its not as important on cars that run synthetic oil.

Haha yah it seriously does. The biggest difference was (This is in my 2009 Civic Si) was when it was -32. It was really tough to operate the clutch and even the steering was stiff as hell.
Then this morning it was "only" -22 and both were fine. Its amazing how much of a difference 10 degrees takes. THANKGOD for Block heaters lol.

Yep. I walked around easily this morning going to work since there was no wind.

It will be up to - 6 C tommorow (22 F) and up to 7 C (45 F) by friday.

Minnesota, NY, Boston, Washington, Chicago etc. are having crippling blizzards and black ice everywhere. Atleast, looking on the brighter side, I got to my office (Engineering buildings of Shaw CableSystems, Barlow NE) easily without any issues in my RWD car with winter tires on.
Spent a winter month in Minnesota many-a-years ago on a job and it was -40F w/ wind chill factor. Coming from warm/toasty SoCal, it was shocking, like I was on a planet farthest away from the Sun. A plastic door handle on the rental Ford Taurus snapped in half as it became so brittle in that temperature. But, boy that cold clean pristine winter air sure is nice.

Ridiculous that BMW doesn't even make block heaters an option in our market.

That being said, the X5 has fired up every time, even though it shows battery drain at these temps.

Btw, the morning you made the OP, it was -36 in Bragg Creek...lol.

Temperature was -27 C last Mon....+2 C on Thu out here in the mountains.
