Only in China: A Car Driving on a Footbridge
China has had 4000 years of contiguous history and civilization....now today, because of this, I'm embarrassed of my Chinese ancestry. [Face Palm]

what they don't show you is the huge traffic jam below the bridge.
I was working in China at the latter part of last year and taxi drivers would drive on the "wrong" side of one-way street, entering pedestrian-only areas. basically, they will drive anywhere to get them quickest from point A to point B.

actually, you are right. I have been there 3 months and the collision rates between Toronto and Shenzhen/Beijing are similar (about 1 collision in 2-to-3 days). But the severity of the accients are quite different.
In China, a collision is mostly a fender-bender. In Toronto, you can almost guarantee at least one car is "totalled". Since there is no concept of the "right of way" in China (you can call that rude in North America), people are much more careful when cutting-off another car or being cut-off. More importantly, insurance and/or litigation does little or no help to the "victim", that means they will incur loss of income if they cannot continue driving. Hence, everyone is much more careful and not go to the extreme just because they have the "right of way".
