$33k? That's getting up there for a slow Nissan knock-off.

No... but I think its a great first car for a young guy... If I had kids (Knock on wood) I would get my kid a 1 ta 2 year old one and have him come to the track with me... That would be fun!!!

Hyundai did a great job with this car imo. They did a great job in making this car what it was supposed to be, a fun to drive, great looking car at an affordable price.

Or for 36k, you could have a 135i with a sub 5sec 0-60, 300hp/tq (to the wheels) and much better quality.... There's also the 370z, which I'm willing to bet is miles ahead of the Genesis. The STi and '11 Mustang GT is also in this price range. The Genesis is an improvement for Hyundai, but still not up to par, not even close.

Don't like the 3.6 ...the engine is a bit disappointing. The 2.0T was a lot more fun to drive ..

To give the Genesis it's credit, the 2.0T model at 22k is a much better option. At that price range, there are only 3 RWD sports cars, the Miata, V6 'stang and the Genesis. Paying over 30k for a 3.8 model is crazy, when there are much better cars in that price range (370z, 135i, Mustang GT, Camaro SS, STi, etc)

Then again, the 300hp V6 Mustang is probably better still

Now there's the pot calling the kettle black. The simple fact is there are quite a few cars that will outperform this for $33k and it is by all accounts modeled after the 370Z. Hyundai can make a good value car, but they do not make high performance engines. The coupe would be a good deal if it were under $30k, that's not the case when you approach the mid 30s.

I have a bad image of the drivers. Was at a stop light one night and two teens pulled up next to me in a blue 2.0T. I hear, "look at that ugly ass bimmer". I turn towards them and give a cocky smile and a laugh.

i went with my cousin to buy his last night... not too bad of a car... turbo does definitely 'kick' and the interior is in a class of its own (given the price segment), but the suspension and overall feeling of the car to me was numb

Good-looking car. Great value for the 2.0. But nobody with a proper understanding of cars will buy the V-6.

yep.... car is damn slow for what it should be.

even the 2.0T is oddly slow. I can't figure that one out, the numbers on paper look good, but when you drive the thing, and the track numbers from it are just straight out pathetic stock..

test drove one before I got my 135i, and it felt really really slow. I went into it thinking positive about the car, but after I drove it it just didn't live up to my expectations. Still looks good and seemed well made, other than the paint. But with a 20 year 200,000 mile warranty you really cant go wrong.
