they did prove that classical music will keep you awake longer than loud music. Not sure how mercedes' system does it, same as BMW, shaking the steeringwheel probably similar to lane departure ?

I can attest to that, it's happened to me before. I'm all for technology but some things are just gimmicky, lane departure assist and this wake assist being examples.

Actually there was an experiment done at some college I'm not sure exactly which one but they experimented with small shocks of electricity that supposedly stimulated brain activity that gave it a sort of "boost" if you will that prevented people from going to sleep. It wasn't very impressive though because it was only effective for I think 15 minutes before the brain started adapting to it but they didnt want to increase the size of the electrical shock because it might cause complications later with continual shock to the test subject. Might be interesting to retry on mouses though and monitor brain activity.
