Question Freezing Batteries Myth

does putting your batteries in the freezer really help them keep their charge or just damage them?

I would put my batteries under the sun when i was a kid. It would re charge and power my RC car remote control for another week or so

+1. I always thought heating it up is what would give it that extra bit of charge as everything inside expanded.

Maybe I misunderstood the OP. If you were talking about storage, I honestly don't know.

I actually just bought a new laptop battery, and its instructions did say that if you wanted to store it to do it some place cold. They gave a temp range but i can't remember off hand whether it would be freezer or fridge cold.

My mom has always put her camera batteries and film in the fridge. Always seemed odd to me

room temperature causes batteries to drain a few % a day. keeping batteries cold helps prevent or lessen that
