Same, -5F, -20C again this morning.

The car made all kinds of angry noises but eventually warmed up. At these temps, driving on a bit of snow makes a sound similar to nails on a chalkboard, I hate it.

At least the HVAC, seats, steering wheel work quick in the small 2 series.

-2F here. Projected high of 2F today. I'm driving Wifey to work so she won't have to deal with a car that's been sitting outside in single digit temps when she gets out this afternoon.

Monday at dawn it was 44, with humidity at 87%. My breath was all frosty when I took the dog out to pee.
By 11:30, it was 78 and 27%. Yes, the devil-wind is blowing.

This morning at dawn it was 57 and 28%, but with the winds blowing 25-30, it feels like 53. BRRRRR, I forgot my parka.

Winds are gone. It's sunny and 58°F right now with a high forecasted to be 70. It's back to normal for this time of year. Very dry; humidity is 9%, dew point is 1° right now.

The coldest that I've ever been was at +29 F in Daytona Beach, Florida. Trust me, it's a different kind of cold.....

They say it was Twain but there's no evidence that it's a quote by him.

However, from my personal experience I can say that it is true. One day in the summer I was leaving my office in SF and the temperature was 53 degrees F. When I got home to Walnut Creek, 30 miles to the East and on the other side of the Berkeley hills that separate the marine layer from the towns to the east, it was 105 degrees F. I could watch the temp reading on my car go up 2 degrees per mile. I went from freezing my ass off to jumping into the pool in one hour.

When my son first went to Merchant Marines in SF, he asked about the weather. Immediately, "The coldest winter I ever spent. . . " popped into my head

It is -11 F-scking degrees outside as I write this. For the first time in 20 years of owning Chez Vreihen, the bathroom sink cold water faucet and toilet are frozen. Probably half my fault, because I skipped my diuretics last night and wasn't flushing the toilet hourly like every other night.....

Snowed for the drive home from the office yesterday, but seemed fine. Didn't get a lick of anything at our place which is strange being further north and in somewhat higher elevation.

Drive in this morning was completely clear until I got maybe 10 minutes, if that, to the office. Turned into a ice skating rink. Made for lots of fun in the old two-wheel-drive Ford truck with no weight in the bed...

Was in single negative digits for morning commutes past couple of days. Reminds me of being a kid and being able to skate of local ponds. But last weekend it in the 40's and 20's in the overnight. Does not make for safe ice. Used to do Ice Auto X with the Boston chapter back in late 90's and ponds were always frozen good and solid.

I was awakened by my snow contractor early this morning. Apparently, I got about 8 to 10 inches and slept through it. Very cold but sunny.

Our overnight low was "only" +4 F last night, the first time it was above zero for a low in several days.

I saw that Scotland is still under a Red Weather alert for that storm, and all railroads are suspended. There was also a report that Ireland set an all-time wind record with a 114 MPH gust, and there are over 700,000 power outages but don't remember if that was Ireland or Scotland.....
