It looks very nice. Did you actually use a clay bar or a clay mitt/sponge? I managed a detail business for 14 years and buffed over 10k vehicles in that period. We used the actual clay bar in those days but I switched to Nanoskin sponges many years ago for personal usage. It saves you the aggravation of having to throw the bar away upon dropping it.
Just out of curiosity, did you use a rotary buffer or a dual action polisher and what type? I buffed with a Milwaukee rotary buffer most of those years, fantastic. I have an identical one and still much prefer it. I use my Meguire's MT300 dual action for light duty stuff but don't really care for it. Dual action polishers do have there place though. What polish and wax did you use? God Bless, Ralph Last edited by Ralph III; 05-08-2023 at 07:46 PM.. |

I've got Bilt Hamber Auto Foam, Auto Wash, Atom Mac and Touch-On. If you've not tried Touch-On then give it a go, I rate it. Just spray on using your foam cannon and then rinse off. If you want to try some different wheel cleaning products I can recommend either Garage Therapy One wheel shampoo or Autobrite Direct wheel and tyre cleaner which I think is excellent. All the Garage Therapy range is top class...in my opinion. I've also got a lot of the Autobrite range too. I like their ceramic infused shampoo, it's not very sudsy so I mix it with their Purple Velvet shampoo. |

I use the Meguiars pro line compounds/polishes. I've used their UC, which is designed for DA polishers, and it works well. The best compound I've ever used is Meguairs M101. It has a long working time and finishes out nearly LSP. If you get an opportunity pick up some of that and try it out. It was originally intended for the European market and to be used with a rotary buffer. The results were so good though that U.S. Detailers started demanding it and experimented using DA's and different pads. I buffed this 20 year old Chevy out for a co-worker several years ago. It was a work truck and highly neglected to the point that it had no sheen left at all. The clear had actually peeled off the roof in fact. The hood image is of the faded paint on the left side compared to one pass with Meguiars M101 on the right side. I didn't take a before pic of the entire truck, only afterward. This was done with use of my MT300 DA as I had just purchased it. I've experimented with a lot of waxes but I don't think I've tried Bilt Hamber. I tend to switch between Meguairs Gold Class carnauba and Mothers. I use Wolfgang's Deep Gloss Sealant for longevity. Keep up the good work, Ralph Last edited by Ralph III; 05-15-2023 at 08:34 PM.. |
