I watched the match and did not feel like Djokovic was playing at his normal level. Quite a few unforced errors. That being said, I do not think it would have mattered. Medvedev played fairly high risk tennis and was able to keep Djokovic on the move. For Djokovic to not break him till the third set and Medvedev had to double fault to lose the game tells me that it just wasn't Djokovic's day. Just my two cents worth.

Oh there's no question it wasn't Djokovic's day but it was also a combination of the precision and consistency of Medvedev I think. He sensed right away Djokovic was struggling and did a masterful job of mixing up his serves and shots. Probably also a combination of pressure and ultimately fatigue. He had quite a few more hours of playing time throughout the tournament than Medvedev.

Well you think Emma Raducanu is enjoying her new stardom? Lol.
She was even representing in a Chanel dress at the Met Gala in New York. Her life is forever changed. Good for her. Hope she keeps her head on her shoulders. |
