This entire article is corroboration of what RIC stated years ago: They are developing the car to suit Max. This means it has a very narrow window of optimal operation and is suited for only one driver. This is a terrible management and engineering decision which has been made to get to their (now failed) objective of making Max the youngest WDC in the history of Formula One.

Further, the aforementioned bad management decision has a more serious financial implication: Not a single dollar/pound sterling is paid to win the WDC...all payments are made on WCC standings.

And who says other teams don't do the same? I mean HAM seems to perform much better in the merc car than BOT. for years now.

I think the annual 500 million or whatever their budget is, is mainly paid by their main sponsor, Red Bull.
You have no idea what that sponsor likes to see most. If they covet a WCC more than a WDC.

Because no matter how you put it, before a GP, every media channel talks about Max, and that means in that regard media exposure for Red Bull (the sponsor).
And that's been going on for years.
I mean it's always about the duel between Max and Lewis. No one talks about Leclerc. Or Riccardo. Or Norris. Or Sainz. Or Bottas. Or Vettel.

It's always VER vs HAM.

RBR's goal was to make Max the youngest WDC. They compromised RIC to do this. They are pointing the car in his direction to the detriment of their overall WDC.

RBR has never won a championship without a car 2 seconds per lap faster than every car on the grid except for VETs first championship. They are a one-trick pony and it is highly unlikely that they have success with this methodology.

That's my whole point. I think the money from RB (the sponsor) is more leading.

Because you're now projecting one of 2 situations:
VER wins WDC but RB becomes second (or third) in WCC, or, VER doesn't win WDC but RB wins WCC
I think the leading question here is: what does RB the sponsor wants to see more eagerly.
Because I think RB the sponsor doesn't mind paying the difference (and then some) if they get what they want most if it really comes to that...

Anyhow, we don't hear Marko and Horner talking about seriously wanting to redevelop the car because only Max seems to be talented enough to drive it properly in order to win the WCC because otherwise they get into financial trouble. So apparently that's not a real issue. Sure they would like to see PER scoring full runner up points every time, but apparently not at the expense of VER becoming WDC because nothing what they say points otherwise.
And I think Marko and Horner are well versed in both the financial position of RBR and how much prize money they can expect or not. Better than you or me anyways.
