Yeah - swapping lights is one thing. Trying to convert the engine (which actually has been done) is another thing, and the detraction in the value of the car would be the worst part. I have the car I want lined up, perfect colors for me, I'm just trying to ensure that all goes smoothly when it arrives.

Enjoy! Those are iconic cars.

One truly could make it a nearly-full-time job, if you're after that last 5% of performance and driveability. The monetary rewards are negligible, but the emotional rewards can be fantastic.

When I own it - it's being sold by private treaty, so is not officially "for sale". I don't want to rock the boat. The car can be identified and recognized so I don't want to upset the seller.

Pretty soon I'm sending some Italian guy by the name of Valentino Balboni to do the pre-purchase inspection for me.

Not really true (the full time job part; they are emotionally rewarding even just to look at). Webers get a bad rap, kind of like those old mechanical FI units on the Alfas, because they are so easy to mess up or set wrong (and they both need 'Italian tune ups' regularly to stay in good working order). Once you set them properly they are as stable as any Holley ever was. Properly is the key phrase here, because you can do it wrong and chase yourself around in circles forever. At least that was my experience on a 6 cylinder (240z). If you take the time/hassle to make choke cables (or grow a third hand) they even start well in cold weather.

And thanks for pics of a beautiful car. One of the true classics.

One of my best buds owns a Superleggera (coolest name EVER for a car.) and a Diablo VT. He's done a few hundred laps with Balboni as a couple of different tracks. Says the man is a driving god.

Was this a famous car or owned by someone famous? It somehow looks familiar.

I don't doubt he is a driving god. Would love to go driving with him one day.

I do not think it has any fame in it's history. Keke Rosburg had one similar but this is not that car.

Thanks! I really hope you enjoy the car! It's beautiful. You made an excellent choice.

I believe this was designated as the "Tony Montana" design package. If you crashed and your "key" of coke got dumped out onto the seats and carpet, it wasn't super obvious unless you had a really nosy rookie cop who wasn't on your payroll yet.
