The girlfriend and I watched Rim of the World last night. Oddly it wasn't about Florida.... Ba Dum Tssss!
The entire time we were trying to decide who/what age group was their target audience. Some of the language and dialogue was too much for a younger audience, yet there was so many details missing from the film coupled along with so much cheese it could not have been marketed for adults. Pretty strange little film. We watched because I expected something similar to Stranger Things that her kids might like so we previewed it. We were completely disappointed with damn near every aspect of it. |

Watched CAPTIVE STATE last night.
Highly Recommend!! I just love movies that actually surprised me at how well they unfold. Great acting and pace. |

Yes watched it last night. Funny because of the cast - the parts with Keanu Reeves were particularly funny, and Randall Park is always funny. Overall, what you’d expect - a little sappy and certainly no epic film, but pretty good for a Netflix movie.

Wife and I went to see the thriller/psychological horror film “Ma” this afternoon. I’ll say it is okay and leave it at that. Mildly entertaining, but more of a subdued (and transparent) thriller than a horror flick. My advice is to wait until it shows up on cable or Netflix.

Finished Always Be My Maybe. Enjoyed it. It was funny and a bit heartwarming.
Watched Rocketman and Godzilla this weekend in Imax. Rocketman was disappointing, nothing like Bohemian Rhapsody which was a great movie. Godzilla was very enjoyable and had a lot of action/fight scenes. And it wasn’t as dark as the last one so we can see just fine. |

Watched Us this weekend. I'm liking this Peele guy more and more. I'm thinking he may be taking over the M Night genre.

Did any of y'all ever go to "midnight" movies? When I was in high school in the late 80's, a local theater (Forum 303 mall) would show either "The Wall", "Heavy Metal", or "Rocky Horror Picture Show" every weekend. My buddies and I would go about once a month. My favorite of those was "Heavy Metal". There may or may not have been flasks of vodka and peppermint schnapps involved.

Back when the release of the newest beginning of the Star Wars films came out, the local family owned theater here did a midnight viewing of the first (released) 3 films - Star Wars, Empire and Return starting at midnight. Three of my hoodlum friends and I went. Surprisingly we were the only 4 in the entire theater. The only employee left in the theater let us have our run of the place. We got extremely inebriated [I'll exclude the substance(s)] and even shared with the guy. He came and sat with us and "chilled" for the next couple of hours. He shut Empire down halfway through and let us run across the street to Wendy's, then let us eat in the theater. We of course brought him back some food as well. He even let us smoke in the theater after he realized we were taking smoke breaks and propping the emergency exit door open. Best movie theater experience ever! |

That's awesome! Same here with Star Wars. My first time seeing it in a theater was the re-release. I did appreciate the updates and extras.....although I don't remember what they are now. So long ago and so out of my mind that evening. I do remember the buddy to my right fell out of his seat during the light saber fight at the end of Empire.

Rocky Horror was all they ever used to show at midnight, so I've never been.
I went to a Thursday first-showing of something Sci-Fi with my oldest son at 11:30. He drove because I couldn't. Can't remember what I saw, nor how I got home . . . |
