Roberts made some bad decisions in this series. Saber metrics is taking baseball 101 out of the game. I remember watching batting practice at Yankee stadium, and every hitter had to bunt before swinging the bat. Now you watch BP, everyone is going for the fences. Last team that played fundamental baseball I saw was the 2015 KC Royals. I wish teams went back to fundamentals. Starting Pitchers now go 4-5 innings , really. The bullpen guys have to throw 98 mph plus. How about locating pitches, and changing speeds. BTW, you have to be crazy to give Machado $300m plus contract. Let him sit and wait for a fool to pay him. Hopefully what happened to Mike Moustakas, happens to Manny.

Gregorius injury + money to burn + under luxury tax + Sox fans dislike Machado + second place finish in 2018 makes NYY possible landing spot for Machado in 2019?

Appreciate that, ny325. Yankees had a hell of a year. Just their bad luck to be in the same division as the Sox. Shit happens.

As somebody above said, nobody seems to be able to just put the ball in play. Quit swinging for the fence and you won't pop up to second base
Machado can go wherever his poor little heart desires, good riddance. There were some exciting times for a Dodger fan, but just not there. The FAR better team won. But that's OK, the Galaxy. . . oh, nevermind But, the Trojans. . . FOK, well, Clippers won. |

Now that my anger has subsided and I've sunken into disappointment & depression, I can reflect with a clear head the events that have unfolded. First, I will say congrats to the Red Sox and all my Bostonian/NE peeps that reside on BP. Powerful team...powerful team. Truth be told, I knew it would be a difficult task for my beloved Dodgers to beat a 108-win team. 108 wins in arguably the most difficult division in MLB. 16 more wins than the Dodgers. That is a lot! Not only this, but Boston beat 100-win Yankees, 3 to 1; then they beat defending champ Astros at 103-wins, 4 to 1! Yes, there were a couple games the Dodgers could have won like games 2 and 4, but there are many times the Dodgers could have won games in previous years' NLCS (vs Cardinals/Phillies) and last year's WS. Which brings me to another point, that the Dodgers made it to the end 2 years in a row. Considering AL teams' strengths, to me the Giants winning in '10, '12 and '14 are even more impressive. The Giants must be laughing their asses of right now. I am sad now that the season is over. A long-ass 6 months awaits until the start of the '19 season. The whole show starts again, waiting through 162 games...an NLDS...an NLCS...and hopefully another WS. Thank you, Dodgers for an exciting season...see you in 2019...

Nice job to those classy fans at the Redsox championship parade. Throwing beer cans at the duck boats. Really. Maybe the Redsox could sign the fan who threw a beer can, and put that fan in the bullpen. Your stupidity broke the World Series trophy.

Seems pretty stupid to me to throw beer cans like that, whether by Sox fans in a World Series victory parade, or by a Yankee fan at a Red Sox pitcher in the bullpen during a game. Seems like Patriots may have encouraged it previously:
During the New England Patriots championship parade in Boston in 2017, some players -- including tight end Rob Gronkowski -- caught beers thrown by fans and drank them. But a number of Red Sox players did not seem happy about Wednesday's beer tossing.

This was one of those things that struck people as "cool" when Papi caught a beer can, so now everyone wants to do it. Proof that, as Tommy Lee Jones said, "a person is smart, but people are dumb as hell."
