After a pretty horrible start, this year's event turned out to be one for the record books! I thought the Radio Le Mans commentators were going to lose their minds in the last 10 minutes or so

I so wish an American broadcast company would air this in its entirety instead of Lemans 4 - 8 hour gaps . Which you have to watch horse trials and ufc repeat fights only to pick the race back up at 11:30 pm on the sports network's sister channel which you didn't know you had and by the time you find it its gone off and then you wake up Sunday morning and the winner of the race is giving his interview and you don't know what happened ......# television rant air nürburgring 24 on tv thank you YouTube !!!!

Television coverage for GT racing really is shit. Between the channel hopping and the flat out gaps in coverage, there's no good way to watch an endurance race on TV in the US... Unless it's NASCAR, in which case you get to watch cars drive around in a circle for two and a half hours, followed by 30 minutes of commentary from racers who are angry at someone about how they "totally crossed the line".
On the flip side, I can understand the challenge. What network can afford to air a 24 hour race? What's the ad-value of 24 hours of television? It's got to be massive. You know none of the race sponsors are going to ante up for that amount of air time. So, it's a pretty big challenge. Interestingly, it's very well suited for outlets like YouTube.

Bad luck for BMW :-( I must say I prefer the look of the Z4 GT3 especially when in black.
Planning to go next year as have been to a few VLNs and they're pretty good. |

And yeah, racing coverage here in the States is super lame. This year I just decided I would shell out the $ for full online access for WEC, MotoGP and V8 Supercars. MotoGP was pricey, but their site is great and you get every session for every race for all three series. I now have no problem getting my fill of action on demand. |

Love those M6 GT cars. Saw a nice M6 convertible on my way in to New York this morning... I'M Fan! Although the Mclaren 650s Spider I saw Sunday was quite the site... In Orange Thanks Dackel, nice to watch. Been watching DTM and BTCC recently... The M135's look good too.

Great video! Thanks for sharing.
I was there for the M Festival and it was an incredible experience. No video or pic will do justice. The atmosphere was insane. On top of everything, I got a chance to meet Augusto Farfus and chat with him for few minutes. Will be back in 2017.

Here's a pretty incredible video of the hail storm. The video description says Fuchsrohre (foxhole), but that turn in the distance looks an awful lot like the left-hander just after the foxhole and the turn in the foreground looks like the right-hander entry turn to Adenauer Forst. There's a popular campsite there, with a gap in the armaco, so I'm pretty confident.
Anyway, the video is insane. The hail really starts going at around the 5 minute mark, but the entire thing is worth a watch, just to see how it builds, and builds, and builds. Must have been really perplexing to be on track at that point. This section is still up hill, but the portion just beyond the camera's view would have been completely impossible. I wouldn't be surprised if some folks slid backward down the exit of foxhole. Nutty!

Been there
I must say the AMGs sound great in real life, a nice deep powerful tone The M6 had great sounding downshift. It was funny to see a completely white tarmac due to the hail, they couldn't even make it uphill with the slicks and had to wait until it melt to drive to the pits. |
