That 80's (70's?) Suburban is not something I would expect to see anywhere in Germany let alone the Ring!

This video really makes me want to ship my car overseas just to race it.

That bus was super funny, I wonder if there were people in it, like a tour group buying tickets to ride the ring in a bus.

Yup! At first I thought it was some soldier's suburban... but on closer inspection it has German "H" plates which means the car(truck) is over 25 years old and considered a Historic vehicle. Having "H" plates also exempts you from German emission testing, although you still must go thru a safety inspection(TUV).

You should ship your car over here! I've seen lots of American cars being driven over here on US plates. You only need to post a bond at the port of entry and have the proper insurance coverage. I believe you can drive the car for up too six months... then you MUST show the car has been shipped back to the states.

Only problem is that gas costs $6 a gallon right now(and all time low due to a strong US dollar exchange rate!).

That was great. The two white vans racing and DHL passing around a corner on the outside. Beautiful.

My god I just want to visit this place!

I was planning to search for a job in Germany just to live near it, then I discovered that life is so short to learn German!

That was my impression as well.

Used to seeing all those other euro/japanese cars but watching that old school suburban with a big Chevy badge on the grill for some reason looked way awkward in Germany.

DHL is a German company. If I had to guess, I'd say that was a sanctioned event. Think of it this way, what better way to build a brand image that is quintessentially German, than to send one of your delivery trucks around The Ring with a hotshoe behind the wheel? Compared to the cost of traditional advertisement, it's be a bargain.

This is priceless! Also, next time someone claims that a particular car handles well because it "was driven at the ring", I'm putting up a clip of that 1970 orange Suburban
