Late 80s Porsche 911 pricing
I know there's a lot of cross-pollination between BMW and Porsche fans, so I'm wondering if anyone here would know about this.
My boss has a 1987 Carrera that he enjoys. He said today that he's thinking of selling it, as prices have DOUBLED in the past six months. I couldn't believe that, but after checking out the Hagerty price guide, it looks like it's true! http://www.hagerty.com/valuationtool...port?vc=854286 What could have happened in the past few months to increase the value of these cars so much? |

997.2 GT3 and GT3 RS are going for more than when they were new. Realization that there are no more manual tranny versions of these cars is leaving people worrying and clamoring for what they can buy, driving up prices.

The 991 is a better car, but is it a better 911? That is debatable with no right or wrong answer. Enthusiasts however take note that the prices are getting a bit ridiculous. Ok, they already were ridiculous, now they border on ludicrous (try to price out a basic 911 for < 100K with a few options. ).
The joy of a simple air cooled p-car can not be replicated without going back in time. 993's have held their value for a while. I briefly looked at them but instead we decided on a base somewhat stripped Cayman a few years back (wife's DD). Could not justify the price delta and despite haters, the mid engine car is more playful hands down - b |
