Newey Quiting
Talking recently with my old race fan buddies, we were complaining that F1 had better rethink some rule areas because it was in danger of becoming a "Spec Formula".
Evidently Adrian Newey thinks it has. Sad. He will be missed. http://www.motorsportmagazine.com/f1...s-quitting-f1/ |

We know that since the Canadian GP when RBR made it official.
Adrian Newey signed a multi year contract with RBR, but with a more diverse role. Mentoring role for F1 division, and expand RBR horizon in different sport or sectors.

As it's been succinctly pointed, the new contract extension signing indeed was done some weeks ago. Since then his tone has gone downhill along with Red Bull's acknowledgement that next year is his last car. He started by lamenting that he had taken the last formula as far as he could (and that was a typical end as a formula matured) and that this new formula presented some serious "packaging" challenges that had to be overcome. But now we're hearing from him that he's believing the formula has been reduced to a "GP1" level which he hasn't an interest in pursuing. While team principal Horner says "He'll be around", it is sounding unlikely.
I repeat, we'll miss him. We need hope there are other crafty aerodynamacists who can design around a formula that Newey now believes is too narrow and restrictive. |

Hmmm if RBR were still winning I think he would still be designing.
The same thing happened when he was at McLaren when they signed him up to work on "other projects". |
