Ultrabooks, which one?
So ive been using the same laptop, a old HP Pavilion dv6000 since before college. Now i think its time for a new one. My birthday is this week (friday) and im beginning to think about a new laptop for my work anyhow so it seems the timing is perfect. Im looking at the I5 with the 256.
So far i REALLY love the dell xps 13 with the carbon and aluminum shell, but i wont be able to check one out in person because its so new. I checked out the Asus Zenbook and it was really nice, the Samsung was also nice but the specs weren't as good as the dell or the zenbook and the HP didnt look even close to as good as the competition, which after all to me is important as im going to be staring at it and having to carry it around for hours on end. Im not interested in Macbook air, sorry guys but the os just doesn't excite me and the programs (excel etc) i dont like as much as the PC originals, i like the ability to change things on the PC and its the same reason i like my android phone. Anyone have any experience with any of these? any helpful info. |

the only other one i can think of is the HP spectre. It is made out of glass and looks legit. my sis actually ordered one and it should come next week.

also, if i were you, i would wait a month when the next gen chipsets come out. Its called ivybridge, and the internal gpu has a 30-50% increase in performance vs the HD3000

^ for the same stuff im looking at with the previous ones posted (around 1300) it would come out to 1700 for the HP. Too rich for my taste considering that they are "ultrabooks" cool stuff though. Also worth noting, i could get the i7 dell for 1500.

whoops ya your right xD. My dad works at HP and they get a discount so I think he only paid ~1200 for it. IMO the best one right now is the dell you mentioned.

thats what im thinking. Its really between the Dell and The Zenbook it would seem. The Dell is all around much better packaged while the Zenbook has more ports. Basically the only differences...

Whoa resurrected. I ended up with the Dell xps. Great computer, un-beatable customer service and im happy with everything on the laptop. Its hard to get used to a small keyboard and the touchpad, but its less to do with the hardware and more to do with me.

i got the acer i7 ultrabook about a year ago (4gb ram, 240gb ssd, 13.3"). it's been good. the ssd broke and they replaced it under warranty. a year ago it was ~$1300 and the price hasn't moved much. pretty remarkable as far as computers go.
