Sport auto:
S4 (manual with Sport Diff, Dynamic steering and Active dampers) was also tested by German Sport Auto and it did Hockenheim in 1:16,7min. To compare: TTS Coupe(1:16,1min) S4 (1:16,7min) S5(1:17,2min) note: all cars have street tires.

Great result for Audi, it looks like the new chassis and engine is doing the business. I'm a bit surpised that the S5 was almost as quick but then remembered that it was tested with rubber that was similar to Michelin CUPs so in reality the S4 is actually over 1.3s quicker.
How does it's lap time compare to the 335i? Also check out the Cayman S time!, that is a seriously quick little car, I wonder how the TT-RS will compare when it comes. |

So how come they could only get the 335i to 60 in 5.5 seconds? That's abysmal.

But even when you take the standing start out of the mix and look at the acceleration of both cars after 60mph you see that the S4 is comfortably quicker. Break it down from 60mph onwards . S4 vs 335i 120km/h (1.0s quicker) 130km/h (1.0s quicker) 140km/h (1.1s quicker) 160km/h (1.2s quicker) 180km/h (2.3s quicker) 200km/h (2.6s quicker) Where is the evidence that Quattro is stealing power from the engine and Audi Quattro cars get slower as the speed increases, here the evidence is in fact the opposite. I don't love it's looks but there is no doubting it's ability, it's quicker in every way which is similar to how the RS6 is to the M5. |

Is this an argument of whether Quattro vs RWD is better, or is it Audi vs BMW?
Maybe the real debate should be whether Superchargers are better than turbos. After all the S4 is more economical, quicker, produces less emissions and get weights more.......it's a strong case being put forward by Audi. |

You can't view price when debating rivals, anyway everywhere else th S4 and 335i are the same price.
Also without testing the power figures of the S4 we have to believe Audi's figures and we already know that the 335 produces close to the figures quoted for the S4 both hp and torque so it's all down to the way both curve are in each car. My guess is the S4 is stronger over more of the rev range and especially so closer to the rev limit. |

The U.S. figures are usually for a 0-60mph, which translates as 0-96kph hence the lower times in the U.S. Pro rated, a 0-100kph of 5.5s translates to a 0-60mph of 5.28s.

Correct, I have had more Audis and always had a pleasent experience both with ownership and with dealer. As it's been some years since I owned a BMW and this is my first M3 I am constantly comparing to my Audis, so far things are looking good but there is a long way to go before I will be convinced it's better.
