funny topic. if you're auto i would say dsc off and track off for best launch.
i have an MT and noticed when i revved my car once to hear the exhaust, the rev would hold at 4k on sport+. going to look into it a bit more |

Check out this video for info about launch control:
1st off, your car has to have travelled 6 miles prior to initiating LC. Additionally, you have to have your steering wheel straight, if it is not straight or you move after you start this sequence, LC will not initiate. Here are the steps: 1) depress brake pedal FULLY 2) Press the traction button once 3) put car into D, then press to the left to go in Sport tranny 4) Push throttle pedal past the resistance point on the floorboard. 5) brings revs to 2k Launch control active should light on your dash, release the brakes and you are off. how about on a manual? has anyone noticed the rev hold around 3-4k rpm?
not sure if its a launch feature but it would hold the rev on a complete stop. |

really... the MT can do its own launch control?? if it's holding the rev for you while at a complete stop, that'd be the launch control feature.

auto also keeps rev under 3-4 k.... it's a safety feature so you don't blow up the engine |

alright, yeah.. so I confirmed it will hold the rev's at 3K in any mode on the MT... whether that could be considered launch control or not.. IDK. But I did get a few firm launches 'testing' this

The most pathetic thing about this whole launch control is that you are basically guessing at when the car can do it. If you haven't driven 6 miles, it won't work. If you have the wheel turned, it won't work. If the car is too hot and you have driven a lot, it won't work.
The least they could have done is given you a menu item showing when the car is ready to perform that task if you ask it to. Because of all this guessing, to me the launch control on this car is mostly a gimmick. It's sad because it's a feature I was quite excited about early on. |

if youve seen the previous posts the revs will hold around 3.5k. After more digging there are people in f30 that get good launches from it as well.. if you can get off the line wouldn't that pretty much be same as launch control?

no, cause the only thing it does it's hold the revs till you release the clutch, as soon as you drop the clutch there is no control anymore and you can be spinning the tires at 7k rpm
the one in the auto, will "clutch" in/out several times per second without cutting power if there excessive wheel spin.... think it like an opposite of ABS but for the clutch if it makes any sense |

The few test launches i did with this "feature" today in Sport+, I got some pretty good launches with no wheel spin whatsoever. They weren't complete clutch drops but close enough. I'm actually kind of satisfied with it!
