Huh, interesting. Had never heard of this thing. Good concept, but $250k really? For 80-100k...maybe.

A car with the retro look -- just not my cup of tea. Car is unproven to be worthy of the price and road. I guess the manufacturer is trying to sell on the idea "if it is expensive it must be good" which kind of reminds me of that very expensive first "made in china" car made by the FAW Group Corp -- an $803K+ untested car which also has a retro look.

Not a fan of retro muscle. Wouldn't buy that for anything.

It would have to have strong numbers. If I am going to go retro, or a resto-mod, it would probably be well... retro. Meaning that I am going to start with original steel. There is something about sitting in the original thing that this cannot reproduce, even with all the modern niceties. You can easily hit 250K building a retro G-Machine depending on the level of detail so I don't think the price is outrageous.
This is kind of like the companies that are stamping out new '57 Chevy and '69 Camaro bodies, but taking it one step further. That thing looks like a 1968 Mustang with a '71 GTX nose.

I agree with everyone here that this seems overpriced, esp. when they're basically using an off-the-shelf engine and recast body parts, even though there is supposed to be bespoke tailoring involved in the process.
But when you think about it, isn't this what Pagani does with his creations like the Huayra and Zonda? Using an off-the-shelf AMG engine and in-house designed body-panels with bespoke tailoring? Of course the Pagani engine is something supposedly AMG built just for him, but still. And yet no one has any problems paying 4x (or more) for a Pagani product, but scoffs at 250k for an American version. Not defending the price point, as I've already mentioned I think it's overpriced, but I still find it interesting the differences in perception. |

Also Hyundai should sent them a restraining order for trademark violation on the Equus name.

You are right in regards to the fact there is nothing new or original with the Equus, the body panels are cookie cutter '68 Mustang with a modern take on the interior with an off the shelf crate engine and suspension. I could take a mustang shell and reproduce that thing 98% in my garage. The Huayra and Zonda are 2 of the greatest hypercars todate. Where every detail has been over engineered to the nth degree. The car's styling is a work of art, with nothing like them on the road. Just because the engine has been outsourced to AMG does not paint Pagani with the same brush.

But that said, isn't that why a Pagani is 4 or 5 times what the Equus is asking for? If a person is ok paying 1-1.5M for a Pagani (and most of us here probably think that that's ok and not completely ludicrous) why isn't paying 1/4 of that for an American marque of the same ilk, sort of ridiculous? I do think it's ridiculous to pay 250k or more for an Equus, but I'm having a hard time figuring out why, when I don't think paying 1.5M for a Pagani Hauyra is ridiculous. |

IMO
Put a Ferrari twisted emblem, some Mustang Eleonor lines, Plymouth Barracuda chips, Dodge Challenger left overs in a blender for let's say couple of minutes, serve in any straight track and enjoy the amount of money you were able to spent.
