Square set-up

I've come to love having a square set-up on my E39 M5.

Has anyone considered doing a square set-up on the F80 or F82? 275/35/19 all around.

What size spacers would we need for the front?

Would need offsets first.

I'd like to go square, but there's no way to fit the rubber I want in front.

What rubber do you want in front?

I mean if I were to go square.

I know that I'm planning to at least bump to 285 out back.

305 might be overkill. Lulz

I'll be going square for my track setup. The track wheels I got for my E92 seem to fit the F8X just fine: 18"x10" ET25 with 275/35R18 tires.

I will keep the OEM staggered setup for the street though.

Just keep in mind your steering feel will change as you go up in tire size up front. That being said, going up 20mm up front (to a 275) is very do-able, even with stock dampers. Going up 30mm up front (to a 285) will most likely start to get tight clearance-wise, you may need actual coilovers at this point to give you some strut-side clearance back.

Apologies for resurrecting an old thread, but still wondering whether anyone has actually come up with a square setup for track use with no other modifications to the suspension. If so, what wheels and tires are you using?

That guy (me), did it on 275/35R18 ET25s. No rubbing at all. Fender gap looks great too without any additional spacers:

That was quick. I was just about to PM you to ask you to contribute to this thread!

Can you share more about your experience with your setup? Did you need any spacers, different bolt lengths? What did you use for brake pads and how did you like it?

I'm looking for a track setup for the M4, having been tracking an E46 M3 for the last ten years using PSC tires and PFC08 pads. But neither are yet available for the M4.

Thanks!

- No spacers or longer bolts needed.
- Toyo RA1s are awesome, very happy with wheels/tires. 275 all around feels great.
- Did not like Pagids RSL1 that much, have a set of Carbotech XP12/XP10s coming for this weekend. But if you can wait, def wait for PFCs. I heard from some sources that BimmerWorld should have PFCs for F80 M3 within a month.

Do you think the 275's are wide enough for the F80 platform? I'm running 275's on my E46 and while they are plenty on that chassis, I feel like with the extra weight and power (torque) of the F80 275's wouldn't be enough.

For me 275 was just fine. I had no issues with rear traction. I also ran 275s on E90, and had no issue there too. I did slide a few times on throttle, but catching that is fun too. Dunno if i'd want perfect grip all the time.

I like to think I am pretty smooth on the throttle. Perhaps if someone is more aggressive/faster, extra width would be helpful. Dunno.

Hmm, I'll start by just using my existing setup with spacers in the front (APEX ARC-8 18x9.5 ET35 w/ Maxxis Victra RC1 275/35/18) and go from there. I'm planning on JB4/Downpipes/E40, so I'm thinking I'll end up needing more rubber but we will see. Thank you

Enjoyed ur video jbraslins.
Ur Really smooth on the track - 140+ on the long straight - late braking.
Oem brake fluid? Or complete flush w something something else.

I would think using the 275/35 18 would help on cost as well - burning rubber throughout the track season.
Great info guys thanks

I'm considering going with a set of 19x8.5 wheels for my snow tires. A 255/35R19 set of tires would be good for Winter. The ability to at least rotate front-to-back would be a bonus season to season.
