Downpipe install w/lift! Easy or Hard?

My friend has a garage w/ lift, and ever single possible tool imaginable. Is this a 4-5 hour job with that being said? He's a ford mechanic, and i've done a lot of stuff on many bmw's but never down pipe install. Want to know from people that have done it themselves. Biggest issues you ran into? Things to make sure to do to make a seamless install?

Thanks in advance. Cant wait to get these 3 inch downpipes and FMIC done!

You gotta loosen the bolts that hold the steering rack and shift it, I know that

Got a great deal on install so I'm having mine done with some other work tomorrow. Seems feasible with the right tools and a lift, good luck!

It'll be way easier with a lift but I hate downpipes no matter how high up they are. The real PITA about them is the o2 sensors and getting the v-band clamps to line up properly.

Takes me about 3 hours to do with rhino ramps and jack stands but I have done it a few times at this point.

Lift will help speed things up but like anything the first time through will always take longer as you learn all the pitfalls.

I just used the AR design install video and was able to do it on jack stands.
Just take your time and maybe put the exhaust through a heat cycle, let it cool a bit and re-tighten everything.

Spray penetr8 or some sort of nut loosening agent on 02 sensors, get a 22mm spanner and cut it short.

I have a lift and have never done it before, took me 2.5 hours start to finish. Watched the AR design video on youtube, piece of cake.

Dude, if you have a lift, all the tools, a mechanic, and spray some PB blaster on everything before you take it apart, bring some lawn chairs and a 12 pack and enjoy the party. It should be a breeze.

Depends! XI? The video doesn't show that if you are a XI you do have to drop the subframe to get access. Don't forget to support the engine still if you do drop the subframe.
