M-Performance Exhaust installation

For you folks that have the M-Performance exhaust, did any of you install it yourself?

Any tips/similar guides you can share?

I am debating whether I want to haggle with the dealer to match the online parts price and do a VPC install or whether I just want to buy and install it myself (and save $450). I am mechanically inclined but sawing up the tubing underneath a brand new car kind of makes me 'ehh'.

For those that did do the install themselves, or know, once the stock muffler is cut off do you need a clamp or does the M-Performance exhaust ship with it?

It looks straight forward if you already have tools....cut the stock muffler, bolt on the perf one

But if you feel uncomfortable then bring it to a shop..should cost $80-$150
Its just a muffler, you dont need the dealer to do that unless you want to pay their rates

Best way is with one of these. And yes, the kit does include a new V-clamp.

yea that would be awesome, sooner the better so i can hurry up and buy it.

but since every reviews and videos have been such close up of the exhaust, can we get some distant ones too? a lot of people have the camera next to the exhaust so it comes out louder than it really is

I personally couldn't pull the trigger on just the muffler. Waiting to see what Dinan come out with so I don't have to cut the stock pipe. Waiting for a full system with a custom tune.

I'd do it for ya for free. But we live a bit far. It is quite simple. There is a dimple in the exhaust pipe behind the stock muffler this indicates the cut spot.
I did this on my friends 2014 335xi. We held the after market muffler up just to verify the cut spot and it was right on with the dimple.

Cut the pipe
remove stock muffler from hangers
hang aftermarket muffler
slide clamp on and tighten
Go for a FUN run

I don't trust Justin…even though his video helped tip me over into getting the performance exhaust. His rig *also* has a modded DP if I recall, so that's likely going to make it sound a bit sexier than the exhaust swap alone.

My EB is at the dealer's as we speak. The exhaust is finished but I HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL TUESDAY for them to find/install the tips. But whatever…I've waited 2 month's already…what's one more glorious spring weekend without my new ride?

I'll have the rig ready tuesday and will try and post videos of a bone stock M235i w/only M Performance exhaust swapped in.

MPE alone no. but you won't gain much if not at all. this is just an axle back. I just noticed my car flowing better more than "gaining" anything
