New Walbro 450 E85 bucket.

Hey all,

Some of you are familiar with my Stage 1 Walbro 255 inline kit. I've been working on developing what I'm calling my Stage 2 kit and I'm now through the design phase and have been running it for a little while.

At this time it is not for sale and can not be purchased, this is purely to see who's interested in such an option as I go forward.

With that said, I'm going to keep it short and sweet.

This is a simple drop in replacement for your stock pump and hooks up exactly the same way. Here's a few pics, a video, specs., and a log

Size: 180.6 KB
Name: 450-3.jpg
Views: 2268
Size: 179.1 KB

Specs: (As tested on my work bench)

Pump = Walbro F90000267 (many call it the Walbro 455)
Flows = 1.0 GPM (stock is .6 GPM)
Volts = 13.5
Amps = 21

Here are a couple screenshots of my logs. (not sure if I can link to Datazap here) FTR, I am running a stock HPFP system, 100% E85 (tested at E82.5), but my fuel pressure regulator is upgraded and so are my lines from my tank to the HPFP. This log was taken at approx. 1200" elevation and temps in the 60's.

The LPFP pressures:

The HPFP (rail) pressures:

To re-iterate, this is just a feeler, so if you'd like to see this option become available, please post up or if you have any questions...I'd like to hear those as well.

Also, if you're curious how you access this assembly in your car....

Thanks,
Steve

I like the idea, if/when it were ever to go on sale you could put me down for one.

I'm interested as well, depending on how long it is before it becomes available and of course the price. I need something like this sooner rather than later.

Would this be used with the inline pump or just by itself?

Just wanted to pop in and say @SteveAZ really is a great guy and knows what he is doing. I currently have his stage 1 kit and it is unbelievable. The amount of work he put in to make sure that you get the kit and have literally every single thing you need is crazy. Would highly recommend anything he does to anyone

i AM speechless. probably the BEST setup out there. only people that have struggle with the venturi slipping off will actually realize how well this set up is put together. Speaking of which, i would like to see a picture of the bottom of the bucket, inside, where you connected the hose to venturi.

setup looks extremely clean. GREAT JOB!

Subscribed. I'm gonna be torn between this & the CPE billet fuel hat upgrade.... Price, system integration & consistency are going to the biggest factors.

That's awesome. I'm happy with your 255 kit that I got from you. May have to swap it with this to run 100% e85 though.

First of all, thanks for the feedback, input!

To answer a few questions.

I realize some are concerned with the venturi but to give you a bit more info on that. The fitting you see on the top of the pump, it's not just a tee...it has been tuned to flow the majority of fuel to the HPFP and just enough fuel to the venturi to fill the bucket efficiently but that's it. I have incorporated in the design of the fitting a way to reduce the flows to the venturi to protect it and maximize output. Then on top of that I have used nylon lines rated for 183psi working pressure and over 700 psi burst pressures and those lines are then prepared for the connections with a special tool, heated to form fit them after they've been assembled (just like the stock fuel line) and then crimp clamped to reinforce them. All the fittings, lines, and the bucket itself are nylon for compatibility. The tee fitting itself is manufactured from the same material as the Walbro pump body and the fittings Walbro provides for other installations...such as the my 255 inline kit. I've done that to limit the number of materials in the tank and reduce potential reactions by having to many different metalics in the tank.

No...I would NOT recommend using this with an inline. If you have something that is custom and virtually nobody else is doing yet...contact me and we'll talk. But there are only a very few number of people that are working with anything like that and I've been working with most of them.

As for a picture of the bottom of the bucket...when I'm prepared to release this...I'll post pics of it.

As for cost...lets just say if you went in to a BMW dealership and wanted a new stock LPFP....you'd probably pay more than what this upgraded bucket will cost you.

You can run 100% E85 with that kit...you just need to make sure you are tuned properly and that your HPFP is up to the task. I have a few people running 100% E85...but it's not as simple as just filling up with e85...You MUST be properly tuned!

If you need help with that, contact PTF.

How much is this going to cost? I have a stock bucket in hand that I can ship as a core.

I'm targeting four bills and that will include:
1. Upgraded bucket
2. PITA clip
3. Installation CD
4. Ethanol tester
5. Ring removal tool

To reiterate though, these are not for sale at this time. This is a feeler thread so I can plan accordingly.

THANKS!

Yessir...it would be no different than if you were to change out your bucket for another stock bucket...well except that this one flows a lot more and is E85 certified

Steve,
When you say "ring removal tool" are you refering to the Oeticker clamp?

No....there is no need to remove any of those. This is 100% Plug and Play...I don't recommend for anybody to remove the stock fittings and none of the kits require it.

The ring removal tool is for the lock ring that holds the LPFP assembly in place. It is demonstrated in the video at the bottom of the first post.
