Spoiler

After washing the car I noticed the lip spoiler has started to come away. I've had the full aero kit fitted in factory so was surprised this could happen. Will BMW reattach it back on under warranty and instead of using double sided tape is it a good idea to ask them to use some adhesive solvent ???

With BMW factory fitting it, they cover it vender warranty.

They will need to attach it as per maintenance instructions, unless allowed concession etc.

Main thing to watch it paint damage post repair.

They don't fit the kit in the factory, it's done by the dealer, and by the looks of it they may not have bothered to use the adhesive primer which makes the tape stick properly! I fitted the spoiler on my E90 this way and it was still very well stuck after 2 years!

You paid them to fit it so i cannot see why they wouldn't re fit it, just tell them to use the adhesive primer properly!

Too right! If they fitted it, there's got to be at least a 12 month warranty with the spoiler and its fitting!

One of the guys on the general thread seems also to have had a problem with his spoiler, but all accounts much more extreme than yours.

I would have thought that this should be a fairly straightforward warranty fix although I don't the dealer in the usa seems to be playing at.

BMW will sort that just take it back to them.

My dealer uses adhesive which is specified for most of these kits by the factory, however I can understand people's dislike for using it. It's called Betalink and has a BMW part number.

If you're happy with it but just want it sorting, let them decide what works best? If they use tape and it happens again you could go down the adhesive route.

Hope all gets sorted,

Mat
