N54 vs N55 PE Mufflers- are they the same?

Hey everyone! I'm being offered N55 Performance Mufflers for my N54 E90. I already bought an X pipe to replace my midpipe.
The big question is:
are N54 PE mufflers and N55 Mufflers the same(sorry if this has been asked before)?
Could someone please chime in? Thanks in advance!

Thanks for your reply. I understand that the fitment is the same but are the mechanics of the mufflers(internal guts) the same? Reason why I'm asking this is even if the fitment is the same but are they identical in the way they are made? Since all n55's already have the x pipe and E92's not having secondary cats, therefore making the N55 mufflers more acoustically quieter. That is my fear. What do you think?

f they are a different part number, I would say theyre different internally. I have PE on my n54 with no secondary cats and it is quite a bit louder than before. It would make sense if the n55 PE muffler is quieter to compensate

There are tons of threads about this. Both n54 and n55 will bolt up. The exhaust tip might vary.

From listening to a lot of clips it seems like the N55's PE are louder. But, since not all of them are without 2nd cats do you think they have different mufflers for each setup? It's very interesting to know if someone has a N55 PE on a N54 and what the outcome sounds like. When you deleted your 2nd cats did your check engine light up?

Thanks for your reply. I agree that both will bolt on but are the inner parts of the mufflers the same?

Just in case if anyone is curious, the N55 mufflers do work just great!
