Build slot confirmed - the wait begins

Call from the dealer today, build slot confirmed for August and estimated delivery with them for 10th September. As far as he was aware it will be the first in the country as it is the first RHD build slot although that is likely to be a load of bo##cks and doesn't meant anything apart from sounding good.

Anyone know how to not make the next 4 months feel like a prison sentence? All reasonable suggestions on how to make time pass more quickly would be greatly appreciated.

Commit robbery, you'll get 4 months with time off for good behaviour. Won't need to worry about cars then.

Or go on a cruise, no cars there and no Internet connection so can't wind yourself up reading reviews of how great your car will be!

I am only slightly jealous btw

Fair point. I will be interested to see how easily a heavily spec'd immaculate 320i xdrive sells privately in the meantime. I am sure it will sadly be like selling air conditioning to Eskimos!

Only sold privately once and it wasn't the best experience, although I suspect the large hit I took didn't help. Used Autotrader and interestingly the main calls were from BMW group buyers.

You might get lucky, depends what stock the dealers want, doubt there are too many petrol Xdrives around, but loads of 320d's which could make it more saleable. Good luck anyway

To pass the time you could start a different thread every time you have an update

Sorry couldn't resist. Timing looks good for the new Reg date, fingers crossed for some September sun! Did you see a guy in the UAE seems to have had an M3 delivered already, seemed strange considering other deliveries and launch here.

Thanks MG. I think the 'advantage' of it being petrol might help because, as you say, less around esp in four wheel drive and not too bad on economy and emissions for a petrol. I tried BMW group buyers when I was selling my Z4m coupe and wasn't impressed. In the end, joined a forum and got £3k more than offered by a dealer. All good fun.

I am going to start a new thread every day with a count down timer in days, minutes and seconds - stay tuned.

Yeah saw his M3. I guess BMW my give priority so certain markets and UAE is probably one of them where money does indeed talk. I've seen a lot of guys in USA have their cars 'built and out for shipping' so maybe we should just become pirates and I am sure we could get lucky if we get the right ship!

When will the M3 and M4 coupes be reaching the UK? I'm hoping to pick up a nice E90 M3 that's been traded in later this year... hoping that a rise in numbers brings the prices down a little!

I spec'd an M3 in Jan (obviously didn't buy it) and the dealer at the time said they were expecting delivery for June. I believe the first cars are due early June. Not sure if UK cars always arrive slightly later than the first cars in most other markets due to RHD? Just a thought.
