My transmission threw up today
I was at a stoplight today and nobody was around so I thought I'd mash the pedal as soon as the light turned green to have a little fun. Instead of getting a surge of smooth and linear power like I'm used to feeling, the car lurches forward violently and stops abruptly, whipping my head back, and as I start to ease off the gas, the same thing happens again, until I take my foot completely off the gas and begin to coast. No warning lights, and no problems the rest of the way home. Temperature was about 35 degrees, the car was adequately warmed up, and I had been driving the car fairly hard up to that point. Any idea as to what the hell happened?

Sorry, it is an automatic transmission. I didn't have DTC or DSC turned off.
This isn't the first time it has happened. It happened ONLY one other time, in June, less than a month after I got the car. Whenever I drive the car, I drive it pretty hard (within reason) and usually never have any problems whatsoever. I hope it is not a fuel pump. What happened doesn't seem consistent with descriptions of fuel pump malfunctions. |

This very well could have been tire slip on the white painted lines at the intersection.... Happens to me from time to time as well, in my E90 as well as in my truck.
Was it wet out at all? That will make the lines even more slippery. I've gotten this even without DSC activating. Next time this happens, look down to see if your DSC light is flashing. It goes off pretty quick so you can miss it if you don't look for it right away. |
